spacer The Kruger Collection is pleased to announce the opening of its 2008-2009 exhibition, “Technology’s Impact on Design,” on display in Architecture Hall on UN-L’s City Campus beginning March 28, 2008 . This exhibition explores how technology changes material culture, from handcrafted, small-scale products to mass-produced, machine-made factory goods. Innovations in technology, materials, and design feed the ever-changing taste of consumer culture, transforming the household and the way people interact with their environment. The exhibition is on view through March 13, 2009 .

 

The Kruger Collection was founded in 1997 with the donation of Eloise Kruger’s 20,000-piece collection of 1:12 scale miniatures. Ms. Kruger began assembling her collection in the late 1930s and it includes the work of top miniature artists including Eric Pearson, Eugene Kupjack, Bob Carlisle, Warren Dick, Mell Prescott, and Betty Valentine.

 

The Kruger Collection will hold a gallery opening in Architecture Hall, 10 th and ‘R’ Streets on Friday, March 28 following a 4:00 p.m. address by Constance Adams of synthesis int’l USA . Ms. Adams, a specialist in high-performance architecture and design, including architecture for human space flight, will speak at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center , 313 N. 13 th Street . In conjunction with the exhibition opening, volume 8 of In.Form, a journal of architecture, design, and material culture, will be available for purchase.

 

The Kruger Gallery is located on the first floor of Architecture Hall-west on the University of Nebraska Campus , 10 th and ‘R’ streets. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or by appointment, and closed University holidays.
